Now we have to admit we have a bit of a soft spot for the Blur here at invisiFRAME, our marketing guy still rides one of the last Blur TR’s in all it’s 26″ glory!
So when we heard there was to be a new BLUR, we were intrigued as to what it would bring.
In Santa Cruz’s own words ‘The Blur is the ride fast, ride far, ride harder than your heart can take kind of XC race bike that inly we would make. Light enough to scorch hot laps and tough enough to endure a long-distance beating, the Blur bowls into the Cross Country Club like Rodney Dangerfield at Bushwood.”
The bike takes a one-piece carbon VPP® rear triangle sharing a similar twin upright architecture to their World Cup-winning downhill bikes. Attached to the one-piece carbon front end it delivers a lateral stiffness and tracking ability rarely seen on bikes this light.
A 69-degree head angle also encourage you to go down as well as up.
At 2060g this is their lightest ever 10mm VPP suspension bike, yet it still carries their lifetime frame and pivot bearing warranty. And if you opt for the 29inch Reserve carbon wheels, they’re covered for life too!

As XC race bikes go, Santa Cruz may not be front of everyone’s mind, but this really is a carbon hardtail race thoroughbred
As Santa Cruz say “On paper it’s a whip-cracking alternative to the Blur; the racer’s hardtail for high intensity assaults. But settle down for a long haul and it’s immediately clear the Highball is at home in a range of cross country environments—from XC sprints to 24-hour sufferfests.”
Featuring low-angle seat stays which join the seat tube below the top tube junction. This new placement along with the bridgeless seat stay is designed to minimise trail chatter. A 27.2mm-diameter seat post, means the Highball takes the “hard” out of hardtail riding.
The guys responsible for the carbon Reserve wheels developed this frame with the aim of providing superior ride feel. Placing the carbon in only the most needed areas allows them to tune a really light frame yet maintain torsional stiffness and strength.
The all new Highball is a half-pound lighter than before, yet is still backed up with a genuine lifetime frame and carbon wheel warranty.
